Self-illuminated displays, in particular, have extremely high contrast because they can express complete blackness. In other words, by considering the display as a light that emits light, the hands itself are expressed as if it were a light.

 

Color change

The ability to easily select colors and automatically change colors over time is a major advantage of smartwatches.

 

Customizability

The color of the hands and digital numerals, the shape of the second hand, and the brightness of the information can be changed according to user preferences.

 

 

Our design guidelines

Black background

To reduce battery consumption, the background should be black. This allows the light to appear as if it is floating.

 

Thin line

By using a thin line instead of a surface emission, the brightness of the light is emphasized while reducing battery consumption.

 

Glow effect

The glow effect emphasizes the light and makes it seem brighter.

 

Avoid high brightness constant display points

High brightness constant display points may cause burn-in of the display. To avoid this, in analog, the center is blackened or the size of the center circle is changed periodically to rest the pixels. In digital, the colon is blinked, and in AOD, the colon is darkened.

 

The long and short hands should be conservative in shape.

We subconsciously recognize the position of the long and short hands by their shape. In other words, watches are letters. Therefore, an eccentric design would greatly impair visibility, and the watch would cease to function as a watch. We give the highest priority to the function as a clock.We are the first to recognize the functionality of a watch as a watch.

 

The second hand is more flexible in shape.

On the other hand, the second hand does not need to be conservative, as we do not recognize it as a form. Rather, a design that exists only on the edges, so as not to hide the information on the dial, is reasonable for smartwatches.[Various second hands

 

No need for physical joining of hands.

Physical watches require a connection between the central axis of rotation and the watch hands. Smartwatches, however, do not require such a connection, allowing the hands to float. This allows for a greater degree of freedom in design.

 

Seconds are not displayed in AoD

Currently, AOD always displays a screen obtained once a minute. Therefore, the number of seconds is inaccurate, so the number of seconds is not displayed in the AOD.

 

Display information can be selected.

Information such as the number of steps, heart rate, and other necessary information can be selected for display by the user.The brightness of such information can also be changed.
